WNC FARMERS MARKET, 2016
If you enjoy healthy flowers from seeds to beautiful blooming bushes to trees, you will completely flip your lid when you open the trunk of your car and start loading as many flowers as you can find. Imagine just about everything that blooms is fresh, right in your face! Be prepared to walk a little as the Market is really spread out! By-the-way, I am not talking about Walmart plants!
Now if you like fresh vegetables and fruits, the Market has just about everything. If you want something in Season, this is the place to find them. It is like having a vegetable garden right in your back yard and you have private pickings. (The tomato is the edible often red berry type fruit of the tomato plant! Tomatoes are America's favorite garden vegetable. Yes, we technically eat the fruit of the tomato plant, but it is used as a vegetable in eating and cooking and thus usually catagorized in vegetables! Now that is confusing, but true!)
It seems kind of crazy when you get excited over Herbs, Flowers, Lotions, Potions and Food, but when you go to the Western North Carolina FARMERS MARKET in Asheville, you won't be the only one. That place is crawling with people running to and fro gathering just about anything they can carry. It is really one exciting adventure in living the farmer's dream without having to plow the fields.
While doing my walk around the Market, I stopped to talk with Jennifer Maves of ZENJENSKIN, "Skin Food from Mother Earth." While standing there I tried a sample of her Garden Hand Salve on a scratch that I had and hand. The next day that scratch was almost gone, so I decided to order a couple of jars for my personal use. Very impressive! Miracle Mother Earth strikes again! If interested go to their website at:
www.zenjenskin.com or call 828-777-8044. Tell her I suggested you contact her.
By-the-way, I now have an HERB GARDEN!
The HERB show at the Farmer's Market brings a gathering of the most diverse collection of farmers, botanists, environmentalists along with good old fashion plant loving people.
While I was there I decided to purchase a basket of tomatoes (10 large juicy ones), a bag of mixed small potatoes, a few Bell Peppers and a nice bag of Vildalia onions (about 8 in the bag) and it came to $15. OMG, I was in heaven!
There is only one way to describe the Western North Carolina Farmer's Market, "It is the place just waiting for you to happen!" Make it your weekend outing or a must stop while out shopping. There is so much more in all market from indoor to outdoor booths and small businesses.
Just across the drive is a wonderful garden shop with all the other things you might need.
Speaking of tomatoes, every varity, every size from ripe to almost ripe to later in the week ripe. I purchased a container of the most beautiful large luscious red tomatoes
