Stephen was Theatrical Agent for Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in New York for years and worked directly with clients Whitney Houston, Sela Ward, Rebecca Gayheart, Matthew Modine. Mel Harris, Heather Locklear and Eileen Davidson and many more.

As his theatre career developed, he performed with leading Theatre Companies of his time; i.e., Playwright"s Horizons, Center Stage and Theatre Alley.  With Biggs Rosatti Productions he did national tours of  "Romeo and Juliet" and the "Miser" and did a Southeast Asian Tour of "Some Enchanted Evening.

His move to North Carolina brought him to the HART Theatre where he has appeared in "Brighton Beach Memoirs," "Company," "The Weir" and"Into the Woods."  In the Feichter Studio he appeared in "Twelve Angry Men and most recently "Love Letters."  His next performances will be in "The Prisoner of Second Avenue," and "A. Picasso."

His original Musical works are performed frequently; i.e.

"Take Me Home," "Partners Just Passing," "Strangers" and his musical adaptation of a Christmas Carol is still performed in the year York area.

With an illness in his family, he left New York and moved to Florida where he worked with the Disney Organization for over 10 years as the Actor's Coach to the performers and was involved with Improv at Pleasure Island in the Adventures Club.  He was the original Frollo in the "Hunchback of Notre Dame" at the MGM Studio and was in the "Journey Into Jungle Book" as Bagheera when the  Animal Kingdom opened.

Stephen A. Gonya was born in New York and after seeing his first Broadway show, "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF", he never looked back and only walked the great "Shubert Alley Dream" since!

As his journey continues, he is thrilled about HART Theatre and its growth and respect in Western North Carolina and looks forward to its future.

From performing JESUS in the Smoky Mountain Passion play in Townsend, North Carolina to a performance in "A PICASSO" as PICASSO coming to HART THEATRE in Waynesville, North Carolina in the near future, this actor has been involved in theatre most of his life.
